ING New York City Marathon 2010

I finally got to run the New York Marathon (with Team UNICEF) last 7 November 2010. Personal record time (4:28 official, 4:17 by my watch), and friends and family were there, making this marathon my most memorable one so far. Now I'm ready to say farewell to the city I've called home for the last 15 years. It has been a good run indeed. (ASICS Gel Nimbus 11; 9.5 / http://www.ingnycmarathon.org/)

International Friendship Run 2010

A nice pre-New York City Marathon run for family and friends of marathoners (5k from UN to Central Park).

Dakar, Senegal 2010

Another running adventure while on mission. Running in downtown Dakar can be a little hazardous -- narrow roads and aggressive driving (by both nationals and foreigners). Still, this was a good way to get out of the hotel and look around to get a better sense and feel of the city and its people. I also turned 37 while on mission here -- I celebrated with a 6am run followed later by a dip in the Atlantic Ocean!

Issyk-kul, Kyrgyzstan 2009

Sometimes while on mission I bring my running gear with me to get a few runs done (and it also helps me deal with jet lag). This scenic run in Issyk-kul in April 2009 with the Tien-shan (Heavenly mountains) as a backdrop is quite memorable. AK-47 toting guards looked amused by my persistence.

Continental Airlines Friendship Run 2009

A fun run organized for family and friends of international marathoners the day before the New York Marathon. The run begins in front of the UN, snakes through East 42nd street, Avenue of the Americas and then eventually ends in Central Park.

New York Road Runners Marathon Tune-up 2008

NYRR organizes this run every year in mid-September, about 2 months before the New York Marathon. It's an 18 mile (29 kilometer) run in Central Park -- roughly 3 times around the full Central Park loop.

JPMorgan Chase Run as One 5k 2008

This is a nice fun run in Central Park in mid-April/Spring weather. It's also quite memorable because it's the ONLY run Pao and I took on together :-)

Pfizer Central Park 15K 2008

Bone chilling March weather. Probably my first serious run in New York. (Paopao was there!)

San Francisco Marathon 2010

"The marathon that marathoners fear." This one took some doing due to SFO's much vaunted hills :-) Nice June weather and memorable run through the Golden Gate Bridge, liquid replenishment at the bridge overlook point, and nice flat finish in the end at Embarcadero. ING Hartford Marathon 2009

A nice flat marathon in cool October weather. 10.40 pace. (NIKE Zoom Vomero 4; 9.0)

NIKE Human Race 2008

A 10k in Randall's Island organized by NIKE. It's supposed to be coordinated with 10k's in other major cities. This was in late August 2008 so humidity was high. 10.00 flat pace.

San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon 2009

This was in June 2009 -- my second marathon, and first in California which is really a great place to run. This is where I saw a group of Marines (their base is in San Diego) run the marathon barefoot. Tackled 26.2 miles at an average 10.40 minute clip. (NIKE Zoom Vomero 4; 9.0) http://san-diego.competitor.com/

My cousins Lloyd and Jay also drove up to SD to meet up with me. Enjoyed the chance to catch up.

New York NIKE Half Marathon 2008

Over 10,000 runners hit this half marathon in sweltering New York summer heat (late July 2008). The path through Broadway was quite memorable. My average running pace was 10.03 minutes per mile.
